Owner, Lead Guide
Peter Nave
After almost 20 years as a guide in Alaska and around the world, Peter founded Wild Coast Excursions with the goal of providing the best wilderness experiences available in Alaska.
Peter began guiding mountaineering and hiking above Juneau in 2008, and bear viewing in the Tongass in 2013. Over his career, he has guided dozens of film productions, exploratory trips, and scientific research. In SE Alaska, he has also been a field scientist for the US Geological Survey, and the Alaska Department of Fish & Game. Peter is a certified guide with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, a certified avalanche forecaster, and an EMT. In the winter, Peter guides small-group heliskiing and backcountry skiing around the world, and is the Program Director of the local ski guiding and avalanche safety course program Mountain Edventures. He has a degree in Geography from UBC Vancouver with a focus on Environment & Sustainability. He was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska where he lives with his wife Katie.

Katie Nave
Katie is a passionate outdoorswoman, dog lover, and all-around organizational wizard. She first fell in love with the Pacific Northwest’s wild coast studying Natural Resource Conservation at UBC Vancouver. She’s worked in reforestation and as a field technician for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. She has managed guiding businesses in Japan, Whistler, BC, and Alaska. Katie has an MBA in Sustainable Systems and a career in small business development in Alaska.
