Barnacle Foods is responsible for probably the greatest innovation in Alaskan food in our lifetimes. Their delicious products feature local wild kelp as the main ingredient. They’re not only healthier than their regular counterparts, they’re better for the environment (and more local). You’ll find their famous salsa and other products in most local stores. We recommend the hot sauce!

Found around town, or order online!

Deckhand Dave’s is a covered-outdoor taco and seafood shop in the heart of downtown Juneau. Located at the base of the street that also houses Devil’s Club and Amalga, this is a great place to go after a wilderness trip. They serve the freshest seafood, all cooked to perfection. Trust us, we’ve eaten it 100s of times! We recommend the halibut tacos, definitely the best in town!

Do you like beer? Devil’s Club Brewing is simply the best beer in SE Alaska, and their taproom restaurant is a comfortable and casual environment. The brewery is named for a locally famous/infamous rainforest plant, and their Adventurous Ales have become just as classic Alaskan.

100 N. Franklin Street. Juneau, AK

Friends opened Amalga in 2017 as a small batch gin and whiskey distillery, the first in Juneau. Since then they’ve slowly expanded to offer a tasty selection of canned gin cocktails and other goodies. Head into the tasting room for some of their wonderful fresh cocktails and a curated selection of local goods.

Annie Kaill’s has been the hub for Alaskan art in Juneau since 1975! We love spending time in “Kaill’s” and it is our first stop when looking for gifts for locals and out-of-towners alike. Located in the heart of downtown, it is worth setting aside some time to browse.

Inns, Hotels, and B&Bs

Where to Stay

As your Juneau connection we are frequently asked where to stay. Different areas of town have different conveniences and flavors, and we’re happy to share specific advice. Staying downtown is a great place to start your search. The following places are popular with our guests.

The Silverbow is steeped in Juneau history and character. Located in the heart of historic downtown Juneau. The inn features small historic rooms, as well as a collection of new suites. All rooms have access to Juneau’s only rooftop hot tubs! A simple and healthy serve-yourself breakfast is available every day, and you are in the center of Juneau’s local restaurants.

120 2nd St, Juneau, AK

The Jorgenson House is Juneau’s most refined and high-end B&B. Located in a historic family home in the residential area of downtown, the Jorgenson House is still walkable to downtown’s parks, galleries and restaurants, but further removed from the busy port. Gourmet breakfasts are included in your luxury stay.

635 Alder St, Juneau, AK

The “Capital Inn” is centrally located in downtown Juneau, just off of Main Street. This is a longstanding and popular B&B which has wonderful new ownership. Expect an amazing breakfast and warm hospitality every day of your stay.

113 5th Street Stairs, Juneau, AK

The Four Points is especially popular with our guests disembarking, or meeting, a small-ship cruise. May of which depart from across the street. The Four Points is very much a chain hotel and lacks the charm and local character of the other inns listed, but it delivers a predictable experience, is conveniently located, and is very close to the waterfront.

Vacation Rentals and AirBNBs

Where to Stay

For those who prefer a more independent stay, there is a long list of vacation rentals, VRBOs, and AirBNBs. Below are some of our favorites. It is important to pay attention to the area of town the rental is in. For any accomodation outside downtown, we strongly recommend renting a car.

The Spickett building is in the heart of downtown Juneau. The newly renovated suite in the apartments is very popular with guests settling in to Juneau for a few days. Heidi and Mike are great hosts!

The Buoy Cabin is a charming whole cabin rental on Douglas Island. The classic “A-frame” home is a very “Alaskan” experience surrounded in quiet woods and lush green. Conveniently located a few minutes drive to downtown, staying here will require a rental car, but the reward will be a stay to remember.
